To Travel

Friday, January 16th, 2004

I feel I have been missing from the blog scene in true essence for a bit too long. My deepest apologies about that. I’ve been traveling in the british isles, skiing jackson, and driving all over the west. I’m back on the front range now, chilling, working for Apple and taking a couple of classes to indulge myself through the winter. Skiing will take priority soon as the snow starts falling in the meat of the season, and I certainly hope to catch a run or two with you if you are in the west. Trips are planned to Tahoe, and Utah as well so if you are in either of those areas, maybe we can catch a run there too.

Traveling tends to breed a brand of intrinsic introspection of a sort of nature not available while at home. Traveling alone breeds even deeper contemplation. My visit to Scotland was an amazing one. I went to visit my good ol’ buddy from Helena, Tyrrell. Some of you may know him, some of you may not. If you don’t, you need to meet him. He’s one of those people that somehow knows more about the world than any of us could ever imagine. Someone who can enter into a place, such as Edinburgh, and develop such a keen sense of history in the place, it’s hard to believe. He’s a compass for me in this globalized world. One that keeps me on track in my sometimes lost endeavors. He’s a true, genuine, montana bred, friend of all friends. I am thankful to god everyday that I know no matter where either of us are in the world he’ll tell me exactly how it is, and exactly where I’m astray. I know I have written this before, but everytime it simply reminds me how thankful I must be for the friends that I have out there.

To those of you that are close in my life, there are many. Although I have been flaky at times, I appreciate the light and different wonderful friendships that all of you bring into my life. The many late night talks, adventures, dinners, brainstorming, and heart-to-heart chats that I have had with all of you mean more to me than anything in the world. Thank you.

St. Andrews

In my travels to the Isles over break I took about 600 pictures and haven’t had a chance to put them all together into a website yet. But, I have found the one singular one that I think best represents Scotland and St. Andrews while I was up there for a day with T.

You can check it out here.

Sometimes these things are scary:

OCTOBER
Loves to chat. Loves those who loves them. Loves to takes things at the center. Inner and physical beauty. Lies but doesn’t pretend. Gets angry often. Treats friends importantly. Always making friends. Easily hurt but recovers easily. Daydreamer. Opinionated. Does not care of what others think. Emotional. Decisive. Strong clairvoyance. Loves to travel, the arts and literature. Touchy and easily jealous. Concerned. Loves outdoors. Just and fair. Spendthrift. Easily influenced. Easily loses confidence. Loves children.

Passport Nightmare

Friday, January 9th, 2004

Well folks I have commited the number one worst thing that you could possibly do while traveling abroad. Why I pulled my passport out of my coat pocket and put it into my back pocket I am not exactly sure. This is normally something that I never do. I even had a vision of the possibility of it falling out when I did this switch. Alas, when checking in at London Heathrow, my passport was no where to be found. No doubt swiped out of my pocket by a greedy passport seller, or just simply fallen on the ground somewhere in the Underground. This has made my trip home much more expensive, and much more stressful. But, it’s not the worst thing that could have happened. I’m now waiting at Starbucks across the street from the US Embassy, alas because they are all at lunch until 2, in order to get my limited viability passport so that I can get home tommorrow. What a mess. Note to everyone out there, and something I should have listened to myself; keep your passport clutched closely to you at all times, you do not want to have to deal with this.
